WHAT IS GLASS FIBRE OPTICS FUNCTIONAL ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING?

The Most Energy Efficient Technology Now Known

Lighting is essential
to see or do anything
The search for dependable and affordable illumination has gone on for millennia.  Desired properties include longevity of service, energy efficiency, safety, low maintenance and personal comfort.  If done well, it enhances design, conserves energy and increases productivity.

However, although light is a basic necessity, it could consume up to 45% of a building’s energy. It is also one of the most destructive elements for fugitive organic materials (anything that once grew) that are components of buildings and their contents.

The current importance of Energy Conservation adds yet another factor to construction and facilities management.  This calls for easier and more affordable ways to comply with the mandates and restrictive building codes. Glass fibre optics functional architectural lighting is especially suited for this purpose.

Commissioning, from beginning design, through installation and regular checkup thereafter, is an additional added feature along with BIM (3-D Building Information Model).

The first American patent was granted in 1882, so this is not a new, but
 a proven lighting method.

Used for decades abroad as an additional lighting tool, this completely different illumination technology provides both high level directional (spotlight) rays for task, display, and architectural features, plus lower level ambient (general) illumination.

Miniaturized, it is eminently suited for contemporary or historic venues.  Features include historic light levels, realistic proprietary candle-and gas-light, retrofitting original fixtures, and automated special effects of color, motion and dimming.

In many cases, glass fibre optics can do a better job than conventional lighting products.

1.    Affordable for long lasting service

2.    Just another lighting job.  Installation does not affect original design or fabric

3.    Minimum maintenance: Only needs relamping and dusting the projector boss as needed

4.    Relamping does not disturb displays or pedestrian traffic

5.    Absence of harmful infrared and ultraviolet rays so destructive to fugitive organic materials that are component of the structure or its contents

6.    Safe for occupants of all ages, from children to seniors.  No electricity flows through the light guides, only light rays.  This makes glass fibre optics safe under water or in electromagnetic conditions.

Only one very energy-efficient 6,000-hour metal halide light source, in a readily accessible position, located away from what is being lit, powers multiple points of high level light of the desired foot print and color.

The resultant illumination delivers safe, COOL light exactly to where needed.

Relamping does not disturb exhibits or pedestrian traffic.  Once the maximum capacity is reached, another projector is added.
